Liverpool face a fresh assault from Saudi Arabia for Mohamed Salah in January and next summer, with Al-Ittihad now focusing all of their efforts on 2024.
That’s according to journalist Rudy Galetti, who says that the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund have firmly decided that the Liverpool star is a target to sign as soon as possible.
Al-Ittihad made a late move for Salah last week, initiating contacts to try and force through a move that could have seen Liverpool bringing in €150m plus for the Egyptian star.
The Reds rejected all attempts out of hand, refusing to part with their star man or even consider the possibility of it at the end of the transfer window.
The belief has been that they could face a fresh bid to lure him away in January, with Saudi Arabian clubs keen to keep spending their money and lure the biggest talents from Europe.
It seems they are willing to wait for Salah, though, with Galetti reporting that after Liverpool’s final decision not to sell this summer, the focus is now on 2024.
Al-Ittihad will return with a new effort in January and then again in the summer if that fails, with PIF having made it clear Salah is a player they want in the Saudi Pro League.
There is also a possibility that other clubs could enter the bidding for him too, with Al-Hilal another option that could enter the market.
Either way, it all spells trouble for Liverpool, who face the prospect of at least another two assaults from Saudi Arabia in the coming year.
