Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa are keen on Athletic star Nico Williams, according to Tuesday’s edition of AS.
The winger has been one of the standout players for the La Liga side, who were able to tie him down to a new deal last December. He has six goals and 14 assists from 30 games this season and that includes an assist in the Copa del Rey final win over Mallorca at the weekend.
AS state the 21-year-old has been on the transfer agenda of Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
It’s claimed the Reds, Spurs and Aston Villa have all ‘tempted him in ‘recent months’.
His deal lasts until 2027 and the newspaper says it has a release clause of around €55m, which AS consider ‘affordable’ for the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Unai Emery’s side.
Focusing on his performances, AS claim the Spain international continues to ‘attract larger audiences’ and was one of the most effective players in the cup final.
At the weekend, Williams assisted Oihan Sancet’s equaliser against Mallorca in the 50th minute, and Athletic legend Manuel Sarabia has backed him to have an even brighter future ahead.
“Mallorca’s goal was a blow. And a player appeared who is special, who has an incredible future. The present is already outstanding,” he said about Williams.
“He can play in all kinds of tactics: with a team that retreats, because he has speed and dribbles very easily, and with a dominating team, because he comes out very well for both sides, from zero and on the run.”
