Atalanta midfielder Ederson has insisted he is not focusing on transfer rumours this summer and will leave a potential move to Liverpool in his agent’s hands.
The Atalanta star has been speaking to AS in Spain about his future and transfer rumours surrounding him this summer after an impressive season for the Italians.
The Brazilian was one of the stars of the show for the Italian side this season, putting in a series of impressive performances, particularly in the Europa League, with his display in the final key to them winning that competition with a win over Bayer Leverkusen in the final.
That performance did not go unnoticed, and he was quickly linked with a big money move away as a result, with Liverpool jumping to the front of the queue.
A report six days ago indicated that the Reds had made their move for the 24-year-old, submitting a €45m bid to try and get ahead of the competition.
That was followed by a further claim that Liverpool were close to securing a personal agreement with the player, further cementing the idea that they were pushing to get him this summer.
It seems, though, that those efforts have not managed to turn Ederson’s head, with him insisting that he’s ignoring the rumours and leaving any potential transfer business to his agents.
“It always happens when the market opens that all the speculation comes, but not only about my future, but also for many players,” he said.
“When I received my call (to the national team), I told my wife and my agents: Look, now I’m going to the national team, so you have to deal with what comes and what doesn’t come. Now I’m going to focus on the national team, it’s my first call-up, so I have to be 100% with my head there. And then I will think about my future.
“I am very happy at Atalanta. I just won a great title; I am very well integrated. My future is something that doesn’t worry me. What worries me right now is doing well here with the Brazilian team, leaving a positive impression because it is my first call-up.
“If there has to be some kind of change, I trust my agents. If something comes up about a transfer, the club has to accept it first, and that is the most important thing.
“I have a good relationship with Atalanta, so the moment they come and tell me that they have some kind of offer, that will be when the talks start. At the moment, I am an Atalanta player, and I am still an Atalanta player.”
He did, however, also make clear that he’s tempted by a move to the Premier League.
