Liverpool target Khéphren Thuram has decided to stay at Nice this summer and enter a fifth and final year with them before moving next summer.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the highly rated midfielder won’t be moving to Anfield or anywhere else despite months of speculation about his future.
The explain that Nice have never made a mystery of what they think about a deal for Thuram this summer, consistently insisting that they wanted to keep him at the club.
That’s despite the fact that PSG had tested the ground for the player and in the last few months Bayern Munich and Liverpool have been ‘cited’ as suitors.
Nice never wanted to sell and now that wish could be granted because the midfielder, after considering a departure for most of the summer, has decided to stay.
His choice now is to stay at the French club for a fifth and final year, with the idea of staying where he is, being guaranteed first team football and starring in France with the Euros coming next year.
His choice has been met with ‘immense relief’ by those in charge of the club and there is now even talk of a new contract with a salary increase.
They feel protected as it is now that Thuram has changed his mind and it would take an offer of ‘much higher’ than his valuation of €40m to change their mind about a potential transfer.
At the moment that has not happened as neither Liverpool, PSG or Bayern have made their move, something which seems to have convinced the player to remain where he is for another season.
