Liverpool are fans of Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, whose release clause climbs to “astronomical figures” in the summer.
That’s according to Spanish outlet Revelo anyway. The Reds could be after an elite centre-back amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Virgil van Dijk’s future, with the Dutchman set to leave Anfield as a free agent in the summer as it stands, along with teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

The publication does not hang its hat on one number in relation to Araujo’s release clause. It’s at “€65 million, according to some sources, and €75 million according to another”, they write. But they so affirm that when the 16th rolls around, it will skyrocket north of this.

Barcelona have long been linked with a move to Luis Díaz. The Colombian, who netted in the Red’s 3-2 loss to Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday, has enjoyed decent spells this season, but he could arguably be upgraded by the Premier League club, who were extensively linked to Anthony Gordon in the summer.

But he is a player who Barca sporting director Deco likes so much and while there has not been any official reports of a swap deal, it would make the most pragmatic sense.
