Liverpool have now turned their interest in Feyenoord manager Arne Slot into a concrete proposal and ‘submitted an opening bid’ for the Dutchman.
That’s according to 1908.nl, who say Liverpool ‘officially reported’ for Slot on Wednesday morning with an opening bid to take him away from the Dutch side.
Reports this week have seen Slot rocket to the top of the list of potential replacements for Jurgen Klopp, who is set to depart Anfield in the summer.
It was explained in the Netherlands that Liverpool had shown interest but were yet to make a formal offer for the manager or open talks in any way.
That has seemingly now changed, with 1908, who are very well connected at Feyenoord, reporting that the ‘the game is now officially on the wagon’ and the Reds have opened talks about a deal.
According to them Liverpool’s first offer for Slot will be rejected by Feyenoord, who are hoping to get at least €15m for their title winning coach. Liverpool have currently offered ‘millions below that’.
More offers are expected to arrive soon and Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, is working on the ‘final details’ for her client, who seems keen on the move to Anfield and the idea of leaving Feyenoord after three years.
He is keen to take his assistant Sipke Hulshoff with him to Liverpool, while other members of his backroom team are also in line to go.
That requires negotiations with Feyenoord who are expected to cooperate in the end, but only at a price they find acceptable.
