Liverpool remain strong in the pursuit of Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte, the Portuguese media says.
On Wednesday, newspaper Record featured a story explaining that the Lions want their summer business sorted out in June, as the club plan to have their 2023/24 squad ready by the time pre-season starts.
Ugarte is named in the list of Sporting players who have the ‘most market’, and that’s where the mention of Liverpool comes in.
Record write that the Reds are the club who are ‘closest to an assault’ for the player, even though it’s not yet said how much Jurgen Klopp’s side would like to put on the table.
A couple of weeks ago, the very same outlet had already claimed Liverpool ‘advanced’ for Ugarte and are currently the ‘strongest candidates’ to sign the midfielder.
The Reds may just have to be aware that A Bola reports Aston Villa and Tottenham are battling ‘shoulder to shoulder’ for Ugarte, with a deal possibly happening next week. So this fierce competition from the Premier League may force them to accelerate their pursuit.
