Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has insisted it was an honour for him to work under Jurgen Klopp, hailing him as an even better person than a coach.
The Hungary midfielder has been speaking to BILD ahead of Euro 2024 but did not pass up the opportunity to hail his now former coach.
Klopp has now officially left Liverpool after revealing earlier this year that he had decided to step away from Anfield a year earlier than expected.
The German cited tiredness as the cause, having seemingly exhausted his energies after a nine year stay on Merseyside.
He will undoubtedly go down as one of Liverpool’s greatest managers, having rebuilt the side and indeed the club since his arrival, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield plus a Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup.
His greatest success has arguably been with the players, though, helping to develop a long list into world class stars and foster relationships in the process.
Szoboszlai only had a year to work under him after arriving at Liverpool from RB Leipzig last summer, but it seems that was still enough to leave a lasting impression.
“It was an honour to train and play under him,” he said.
“He is a very good coach and an even better person. I am very grateful to him for what I learned from him on and off the field.
“Not a single player can say anything bad about him because he only ever saw the player and did everything for the team.”
