Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has admitted he is now talking to former boss Jurgen Klopp more than he did when they were together at Anfield.

The Egyptian forward has been speaking to Sky Germany today in which he reveals he’s in regular contact with the former Liverpool boss.

Klopp departed Anfield in the  summer after electing to bring his nine-year spell in charge on Merseyside to an end despite having a year left on his contract.

The German manager insisted that he had run out of energy and needed a break from management after spells with Frankfurt, Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and then Liverpool.

Last season proved to be a difficult one as injuries held Liverpool back and some tensions grew, with claims that he and Salah had fallen out fuelled by a public clash between the pair when Salah prepared to come on as substitute in a clash with West Ham.

It seems that there is no lingering ill-feelings between the pair, though, and in fact they are now talking more than ever.

“Yes, more than before. Contact is good,” he said when asked about his former boss.

“We have written to each other a lot in the last few months. He asked about my family, congratulated me on the games and on reaching the final of the Carabao Cup – things like that. And he told me when he would be coming here next…”

Liverpool have quickly moved on from their former manager, despite the strong emotional connections built over his nine-year range.

He was replaced by Arne Slot in the summer and the Reds have not looked back since, sitting eight points clear in the Premier League and in the knockout stages of the Champions League after topping the league phase.

Few had predicted this success after parting ways with Klopp, with many expecting a drop-off as has been seen at other big clubs.

And Salah admits he did not expect the success they’re enjoying to come so quickly, but credits Slot for not changing too much.

“I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly,” he added.

“However, the coach hasn’t changed that much for us. He likes counter-pressing, we continue to play on the counter, but he wants us to have more control of the ball. So, it’s a bit different, but I don’t see a huge difference.”
