On July 12th, we covered claims from Spain which stated Liverpool have initiated contact over signing Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin. The Ukraine international has also said he’s unsure about his future.

The stopper has a year left on his deal and hasn’t yet accepted a renewal proposal.

Marca claim Lunin’s agent Jorge Mendes has told interested parties that Los Blancos want €30m to sell his client this summer.

This is relayed by Monday’s edition of Sport, who then provide their own updates, where they name Liverpool as the 25-year-old’s suitor.

The stopper played regularly last season because of Thibaut Courtois’s injury. The Belgian regained full fitness towards the end of last season, meaning Lunin will be his backup next season.

Sport say the Ukrainian is looking to avoid that, which is why he wants to leave Real Madrid for a club who can offer him regular game time. He’s currently exploring several options and has been contacted by several Premier League sides.

Among these, it’s claimed Liverpool ‘could be the solution’ for Lunin, considering they are planning to revolutionise their goalkeeping position after Arne Slot replaced Jürgen Klopp.

Real Madrid, for their part, are not in a rush to sell him, and haven’t received a convincing offer so far. They are aware that Lunin could continue and leave them as a free agent in 2025.

Alisson Becker has been first-choice goalkeeper at Anfield since he arrived. If he were to continue, the Brazilian is likely to be the Reds’ No.1, unless there’s a new twist. This is something Sport haven’t taken into account.

If Alisson stays and Lunin still moves to Liverpool, the latter would likely provide cover to the South American.
