Liverpool signings Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo have only managed a 7/10 so far, with the pair just about proving to be positive signings.

That’s according to former Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld, who believes the duo will come good in future.

Gakpo was the first of the pair to arrive at Anfield last year, joining Liverpool in arrive at Anfield last year, joining Liverpool in a €42m deal from PSV Eindhoven after several seasons impressing in the Netherlands.

He’s been a regular for Liverpool since but is yet to fully establish himself as a key player, featuring in just 44% of the minutes in the Premier League this season.

A record of 20 goals and eight assists is short of what the Reds were probably expecting too given he arrived with 55 goals and 50 assists in 159 games for PSV.

It’s seen questions raised about the transfer and it’s a similar story with fellow Dutchman Gravenberch, who arrived in a €40m deal from Bayern Munich in the summer.

Like Gakpo he’s yet to fully establish himself, featuring in just 36% of the minutes in the Premier League this season and playing more of a prominent role in the cup competitions.

It means he also finds himself being questioned, but Westerveld thinks the duo are fine, and potentially stars of the future anyway.

“Gravenberch started very well, and everyone was immediately very enthusiastic,” he told Soccer News.

“After that it got a bit hit and miss. The same actually applies to Gakpo. If I had to give him a grade, I think I would choose a 7. It is a good pass. The future looks good for both.”
