Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Takumi Minamino imminently, report Salzburger Nachrichten on Wednesday morning.
It’s reported the Red Bull Salzburg player will complete his transfer to Jurgen Klopp’s side ‘before Christmas’.
Liverpool’s manager is said to have become impressed with the 24 year old having watched him warm-up ahead of a Champions league match. The Austrian newspaper explains Klopp likes the player’s ‘body language’ and ‘running movements’, and that all set the ball off for a January transfer.
Salzburger Nachrichten explain the move is now ‘imminent’ and it will be a nice Christmas present for both the Premier League leaders and Minamino himself.
Red Bull Salzburg have already started their Christmas vacations, with the winter break kicking in. They’re not due back for mini pre-season until January 12th, so there’s plenty of time now for Minamino and Liverpool to get things completed.
Having things done and dusted before the festivities seems a good idea, although Klopp may prefer to wait until he and his staff return from the Club World Cup in Qatar.
Meanwhile, English reports say the player is set to complete a medical.
