Following initial reports from the English media saying Liverpool made contact for Fluminense midfielder André, we now get to see several outlets in the Brazilian press backing up the news.
One of those is Globo Esporte, who share some interesting updates on the situation.
They say Liverpool made contact for the signing, despite not placing any offer yet. Fluminense’s stance is that they don’t want to lose the player before the end of the year, since they want him for the Copa Libertadores knock-out stage.
That’s why the Reds shall now evaluate the situation and consider making a bid to only bring the player to England in 2024.
Lance also confirm the contacts, claiming Liverpool showed Fluminense they can offer a ‘good amount’ to sign André this summer. Still, they’re not willing to spend enough money to trigger the player’s €40m release clause.
The outlet says all parties are being cautious during the talks and there shouldn’t be a quick resolution. It’s once again highlighted that the Brazilian club consider André to be a very important piece in the squad, and he could become their biggest sale ever.
Fluminense already turned down €20m from Fulham for the player, so Liverpool need to put more on the table.
