Liverpool are one of the sides interested in Feyenoord youngster Givairo Read, seeing him as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
That’s according to Sport, who say Liverpool could provide competition to Barcelona for the highly rated Feyenoord man.
The newspaper explains that Barcelona’s current plan is to find a full-back on the market who can strengthen their defensive line. They’re limited by fair play rules, though, and so are exploring low-cost options.
Givairo Read could be one after breaking through this season and also has the bonuses of being young with a ‘clear growth trajectory’, being able to play on both sides and a transfer fee that the Catalans don’t consider to be ‘excessive’.
They’re monitoring his performances but are aware there could be competition as Liverpool are also ‘closely monitoring’ what he’s been doing this season.
They’ve been frequently mentioned as suitors, particularly given Arne Slot’s links to the club and the fact Alexander-Arnold looks set to depart in the summer.
Barcelona certainly see them as potential competition as they eye up a signing for the future to fill out the squad on the cheap this summer.
