While Liverpool’s season could be going a little better overall, there has been one important success story so far this campaign, and that’s been Mohamed Salah.

The 25-year-old has already scored 19 goals this season under Jürgen Klopp, equalling his Roma tally from 2016-17 in less than half a season, which translated to him finding the back of the net once every 98 minutes.

This fine goalscoring form has caused Il Tempo to lament the Egyptian’s departure, especially at a time when his former club are struggling to find the back of the net in ways other than through Edin Dzeko.

Exemplified by their 0-0 draw against Chievo and just 27 goals scored in the league so far, Roma’s lack of other regular goalscorers is becoming a cause for concern, especially since the new Liverpool star was never replaced.

Patrick Schick has only just come back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, while youngster Cengiz Under doesn’t appear to be quite ready for the role yet, used extremely sporadically by Eusebio di Francesco.

As the season goes on, and the transfer market continues to explode, with players such as Sergei Milinkovic-Savic being touted for €100m transfers, Liverpool’s acquisition of Mohamed Salah for just over £35m looks more and more like a bargain everyday.

And the more he scores, the more frustrating it’s going to be for Roma.
