Although Liverpool are a huge club who are always involved in transfer rumours, they’re not the kind who keep scouting matches in Portugal.
Unlike Manchester United, Everton and Watford, the Reds are rarely mentioned in the scouting lists published by the local press.
But they did scout a match this weekend, according to newspaper A Bola. Officials from Anfield have watched Porto’s 3-0 win over Famalicão on Sunday.
For those who haven’t been following the Portuguese league, this may sound just like another easy task for Porto, but it actually wasn’t. Famalicão had been on top of the table for many fixtures, and the Dragons could finally take their place with the win.
Porto won with goals by Luis Diaz, Tiquinho Soares and Fabio Silva, with the Colombian striker being the big star of the match.
Newspaper A Bola doesn’t say who Liverpool were watching. But they make it clear this was a good game for scouting, since both Porto and Famalicão need to make sales in the January window.
It’s rare to see Portuguese newspapers saying that, so we should keep an eye on what’s coming for both of these clubs.
