Liverpool are still being named as contenders to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Manu Koné.
A little update on the battle for the player is now brought by the German media, where Bild journalist Christian Falk has a couple of things to say.
The reporter first claims it’s ‘true’ that Bayern Munich are interested in Koné, but then makes sure to say they are not alone in the competition for him.
It’s said Liverpool are ‘still watching’ the Borussia Mönchengladbach player, following the links from the summer market.
There was a stage in the last transfer window that the Reds were even said to be ‘getting hot’ in their pursuit of the player, as they chased new midfielders for Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
The transfer never really materialised, and bow it seems they never gave up.
Koné has just recovered from a knee injury, and that’s why he only has two appearances for the Bundesliga side this season.
The midfielder is protected by a contract until 2025, with an option for an extra year, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €40m.
