German outlet Bild today shares some news of RB Leipzig’s pursuit for Liverpool midfielder Fabio Carvalho.
Their story claims the Bundesliga side ‘think a lot’ about the 20-year-old and work to find a way to sign him from the Reds.
Leipzig’s first idea was to buy Carvalho, but according to the report, Liverpool turned down that option. Now they’re said to be well positioned to complete a loan deal with no buying option.
Bild claims the ‘hope’ from the Bundesliga side is that with him getting regular playing time and ‘feeling so comfortable’ at the German side, he’d then push for a permanent stay there.
That way, Leipzig believe they’d have a ‘better negotiating position’ with Liverpool for a permanent deal a year from now.
Back at the start of the month, reports from the German media had already been claiming that the Bundesliga side were struggling to find a deal with the Reds. It was always clear that Jurgen Klopp’s side don’t want to lose control of the player, so even in case of a sale, it was claimed they’d want a buyback option.
Now let’s see if Leipzig’s new plan will work.
