Despite Ante Coric saying it was he who decided not to leave Dinamo Zagreb this summer, there’s certainly not universal agreement on that.
Croatia’s 24 Sata newspaper say that Liverpool, naming Jurgen Klopp specifically, were keen on a transfer and tried to get one done, but they blame the €15m asking price for seeing a deal fail.
It’s explained that clubs don’t see the youngster as proven yet, or proven enough to warrant such a fee, and 24 Sata sound quite understanding about the refusal.
The player also wasn’t keen on going out on loan, and that was the worry if he headed to England.
As is always with the case with Ante Coric, and most Dinamo Zagreb transfer rumours, it’s best to approach the situation with some caution. Despite being just 19 years of age, Coric already has a string of transfer sagas behind him.
That’s not to put blame on the player, it seems to be that when a brilliant youngster is found in Croatian football, many people want a piece of the action, and that complicates things.
