For the past few weeks, reports from Italy have said Liverpool are keeping tabs on Ismaël Bennacer as AC Milan continue to work on securing his long-term future. His current deal expires in 2024.
On November 30th, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Jürgen Klopp is behind the Reds’ interest in the midfielder.
Alfredo Pedullà states the Serie A winners are set to hold renewal talks with the 25-year-old in the next few days. This was scheduled to take place a few weeks ago, but was postponed.
Milan want to hand the Algeria international a deal worth in excess of €4m per season. If there is no agreement, the Rossoneri will not part ways with Bennacer in January.
Milan’s idea is to have more meetings to unblock the negotiations and only evaluate his possible sale next summer. Bennacer has a market in the Premier League, where there are a few suitors, ‘above all Liverpool’.
Over at Calciomercato.it, they explain the Reds are among the clubs ‘carefully monitoring’ the midfielder’s situation at the San Siro.
The Algerian’s priority is to continue at Milan, who want to offer Bennacer a salary of €4m net per year. In the background, Liverpool and other clubs are circling around the player, and Stefano Pioli’s side must be wary of this.
