At this stage of the transfer window it’s very easy to fall into cynicism, and think everything is agent games or just general nonsense.
That’s the feeling with Federico Chiesa and claims this week that Barcelona and Liverpool are keen. The Blaugrana links made it to the Catalan media, who made it clear that the club simply can’t afford even a bargain deal for the Juventus player.
So that left Liverpool.
It’s not much of an exaggeration to say Chiesa has been linked with half the Premier League this summer, most of the clubs less attractive than Liverpool.
He could perhaps be a good squad option for Arne Slot, but the failure of his agent to secure a decent move by now has added to the doubt around him… and subsequently the doubt around these Liverpool claims.
Italy’s SportMediaSet report Liverpool are ‘ready to present their first offer’ for Chiesa. The Reds are said to be in frequent contact with Juventus and the player’s agent, Fali Ramadani, and ready to offer around €15m for the Italy international.
The report states Chiesa being keen is a given.
