On January 13th, we covered an article from France claiming that Chelsea were interested in Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ismaël Gharbi.

The Blues were said to be following the player closely, and had offered him what was described as an ‘interesting sporting project’.

This all came from French journalist Fabrice Hawkins, who has now come forward with new information by reporting that Liverpool are also on the case.

Taking to Twitter once more to reveal this, he explains that Jürgen Klopp’s side ‘want Ismaël Gharbi’.

In fact, ‘the offer from the English is on the table’, suggesting they have handed him a contract, since the player’s current deal is allegedly set to expire in June of this year according to Transfermarkt.

Much like what was explained in the first article, however, ‘the priority remains Paris Saint-Germain’, but the player is ‘disappointed with his game time’ under Mauricio Pochettino, who has only handed him 43 minutes of football to date, all of which have come in cup competitions.

This means there is hope for Liverpool after all, who clearly have some plans for the 17-year-old, perhaps promising him a safer path to the first-team at Anfield than what he currently has on offer in the French capital.

One to keep an eye on.
