Liverpool are ‘preparing’ an offer for Flamengo midfielder João Gomes, according to claims from Brazil.
Journalist Julio Miguel Neto writes that the Reds are interested in signing the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been watching Gomes ‘for some time’, and now wants him in the squad for the second part of the season.
For now, there’s no information on how much the Reds would like to pay for the player, or even the price demanded by Flamengo for the transfer.
Since conquering a spot in the starting team this season, João Gomes has been impressive and that saw him linked to a few European sides. As pointed out by Julio Miguel Neto, the likes of Atletico Madrid and Manchester United have also made approaches for the signing.
With Flamengo fighting for the Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores titles, it’s clear they wouldn’t want to engage in talks for a summer move. Now with both competitions finishing before the end of the year, perhaps Liverpool could have a fair shot in January.
