Liverpool added Xherdan Shaqiri to their squad in the summer as the winger arrived at Anfield from Stoke City.
The former Bayern Munich man signed a five-year deal with the Merseyside club and Jurgen Klopp has used him in eight Premier League matches this season, in which he’s scored two goals and set up two more for his teammates.
Swiss newspaper Blick claims the 27-year-old is now at ‘zenith of his career’ and they ask him if he is ever willing to return to his former club, FC Basel.
“…coming [back] to Basel is always an option. For my parents, it would be special if I came back to the FCB. Maybe I’ll play with other returnees,” the attacker explained.
He came up through the ranks of the Swiss Super League side and broke into their first team in 2009 and after spending three years there, he made a switch to the Allianz Arena.
However, Shaqiri also goes on to mention that he is not planning to return to his homeland anytime soon because he has to fulfil his ambitions with his current employer.
“It’s still a long way off and I want to reach very ambitious goals with Liverpool,” he added.
Meanwhile, the ex-Inter Milan player has ruled out a switch to China and Qatar, but admitted that he would be willing to join a club in the US.
