Despite seeing Emre Can disregard their numerous ‘ultimatums’, Juventus keep on giving the Liverpool midfielder more time to make a decision over his future.
The German international’s recent injury probably played a part in that, but Gazzetta dello Sport on Tuesday appear to think this could be the decisive week, and an answer will be given in the next few days.
Whether that means he’ll be at Juventus next year remains to be seen, as Bayern Munich are still sniffing around.
Even if returning to Germany would mean more competition for a spot in Niko Kovac’s team next year, Can isn’t ‘immune to Bayern’s charm’, and the fact he’s currently in Frankfurt as he recovers from his injury isn’t exactly filling Beppe Marotta and co. with confidence.
However, as well as already having his ‘word’ regarding a move to Turin next year, Juventus also have another advantage: Can has already visited their facilities.
Gazzetta state the meeting happened last summer, ‘when the courtship started’, with the 24-year-old quickly popping in to Vinovo, where he was ‘impressed by the world-class institution’.
So, for what feels like the 70th time, we could get an answer soon on the Liverpool player’s future.
Just to let you know, we’re not holding our breath.
