Liverpool fullback Alberto Moreno is a target for Portuguese giants Benfica this summer, according to the Lisbon press today.
Front page news from newspaper A Bola says the Eagles are keen on signing the Spaniard on a free move once his contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season.
A Bola makes it sound like Benfica are pretty confident that a deal can be done, since Moreno would be ‘tempted’ by taking their offer.
The Lisbon side would have a few advantages over the other clubs in the race. The first one is Barcelona, who would like to have Moreno as a second option for Jordi Alba.
A Bola says the player has already lived this situation at Liverpool, and wants a move to a place where he will have a regular starting spot.
The newspaper also names Roma and Lazio as possible competitors, but Benfica’s offer is said to be similar, and the one that attracts Moreno most.
But for the Eagles to get things done, they must wait for Alex Grimaldo’s exit. The club expect him to move for over €30m in the summer.
Club president Luis Felipe Vieira doesn’t want to have two expensive right-backs in the squad, so for them to move for one, the other must go first.
