On Monday, the German media reported that Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is ‘on the verge’ of leaving the club.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the Reds expires at the end of the season, and with him being of little use to manager Jurgen Klopp, it was claimed that a ‘contract extension is unlikely at this stage’.
That report claimed that ‘many clubs’ have been interested in signing Keita from Liverpool, and today we get to see one of them being revealed.
According to outlet AS Roma Live, Jose Mourinho’s side now see the midfielder as a ‘real market opportunity’ to be signed as a free agent in the summer.
It’s acknowledged that his arrival would require a huge effort from Roma, since he earns €7.3m per season at Liverpool, but his signing is seen as ‘still possible’.
The Serie A side are about to complete the sale of Nicolo Zaniolo to Galatasaray, making €20m with his departure, and that money could help them make a big signing in the summer. The situation is now said to be in the hands of Tiago Pinto and the Friedkins.
