Federico Chiesa started for Liverpool against PSV Eindhoven yesterday and played the entire game.

It was his first full game for Arne Slot’s side, as they managed to finish at the top of the Champions League table.

The Italian showed signs of his abilities during the match and it appears he’s keen to make it big at Anfield, despite lingering interest from clubs in the Serie A.

La Repubblica, as relayed by AreaNapoli, have reported that Napoli saw the idea of signing 27-year-old Chiesa as a last-minute option in the January transfer window.

The Naples club’s sporting director Giovanni Manna was initially planning to make contact with Liverpool for Chiesa. The meeting could have taken place over the weekend.

However, the winger has firmly shut the door on an exit from Liverpool and has decided to stay at the club until the end of the season at least. That is why Napoli’s move will not go through and they will have to seek other targets.

The Italy international is now fit and much more available after a battle with fitness and this can hopefully, help him in playing more often in the second half of the season.
