Brazilian website UOL features an exclusive interview with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson this Wednesday.
The story talks about the 25-year-old’s adaptation to English football, and reveals that he’s been taking rugby training to get used to physical contact in the Premier League.
“I have already been able to feel the consequences of the exercise of blocking my mobility during the games,” Alisson told Caio Carrieri, from UOL.
“It’s a specific job to adapt to the Premier League, as the referees don’t give any foul in the box, so I feel very well prepared. Besides the blocking, I also train with inflatable dummies that act as opponents in the box.”
“I hope to continue helping the team, because we have a work together,” he said. “I’m on the pitch, I have my share, but I’m not the main one responsible for finishing the game without conceding. I’m there to help, that’s my job. Not conceding goals we get closer to victory because we have a very strong attack.”
Regarding the dribbling skills that Alisson has been showing, like he did against Brighton in the weekend, the goalkeeper claims that he’s been training that too.
“If there is any situation where a dribble will help the team, I do it safely. Sometimes we risk too much, but it’s part of the game, we’re a team that builds the plays from the back with the ball on the ground. It’s important for the characteristics of the team that I play like this. Of course there is the risk of the mistake, but I work hard during the week to be able to repeat during the matches.”
Alisson and Liverpool now prepare to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium for the Premier League on Saturday. A win should keep the club on top of the table.
After that, the player is joining the Brazilian national team, where he’s facing the United States and El Salvador in two friendlies.
