Liverpool star Diogo Jota has picked up an injury while on international duty, the Portuguese Football Federation reports.

The national team statement explains the player had been complaining about muscle pain at the end of their match against Switzerland, and following medical tests, a thigh issue was confirmed.

Jota wasn’t on the pitch for long, as he was only brought on in the second half, and still had the misfortune of picking up an injury.

According to the FPF, Liverpool ‘have been informed’ of all procedures the player went through when still in Switzerland, while accompanied by a national team doctor.

In the last games of the Nations League, Jota first missed the match against Spain, then started against Switzerland and Czech Republic, and then came off the bench in the second game versus Switzerland.

The 25-year-old didn’t find the back of the net during this international break, but did contribute two assists in the first match against Switzerland.

Jota’s last goal for Liverpool came against Manchester City in April, and he’ll hope to be fully fit for the start of the season and able to get among the goals quickly.
