With Arsenal’s Mattéo Guendouzi this morning having a medical to join Hertha Berlin on loan, Bild reported that other midfielders were also of interest to the Bundesliga club.

Among those were Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko and Liverpool’s Marko Grujic. Now the same German newspaper report Grujic is on the verge of leaving the Reds, but not for Hertha.

It’s stated Werder Bremen are closing in on his signing, and it will be a ‘transfer hammer’ for the German club. The move is expected to be a loan for the rest of the current season, and there’s no indication whether there’s going to be a buying clause next summer.

Grujic had previously spent two seasons on loan with Hertha Berlin, but is expected to move to their rivals this time. Having returned to Liverpool over the summer, the midfielder clearly hasn’t been able to convince Jurgen Klopp he can be a key squad player for the Premier League champions.
