Thiago Alcântara is seriously considering leaving Liverpool this summer and find somewhere new to ‘reactivate his career’.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Spaniard finds himself at a crossroads this year after a disappointing campaign marred by injuries.
According to the newspaper, the midfielder is currently working to get back into the best shape possible but also ‘values’ the idea of moving on and restarting somewhere new.
He ‘seriously appreciates’ the idea that his best choice would be to leave Liverpool and move on to somewhere new, particularly after the arrivals of Alexis MacAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
They’ve added further competition to an already packed squad in terms of midfielder, which could also be welcoming more additions if Fabinho and Jordan Henderson both move to Saudi Arabia and need to be replaced.
Thus, Thiago is considering moving on and would like to return to Spain and La Liga if that is a possibility for him.
He had been hoping the departure of Sergio Busquets at Barcelona would open up a space for him but the Catalans instead signed Oriol Romeu and left Thiago with no chance of returning.
His hope is that options such as Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo or Sevilla materialise into something concrete, and he has ‘turned a deaf ear’ to offers from Saudi Arabia while waiting for that to happen.
The option of a cheaper deal is there to be done as he’s in the final year of his deal with Liverpool and they’ve not sat down to talk about a contract extension with him.
That’s added further belief that he maybe should move, establish himself as a key player somewhere else and get back to his best.
