Four days ago, Fanatik stated Galatasaray are keen to sign Liverpool star Thiago Alcântara to improve their midfield. It was also said their vice-president, Erden Timur, has made a trip to England to hold talks with the Premier League side.
The Istanbul club want to have a squad strong enough to compete in the Champions League next season and Akşam state they have identified the 32-year-old as a target.
Thiago has struggled with injuries on a regular basis since he arrived at Liverpool in 2020. He was restricted to 18 league appearances last season, with 14 starts.
It’s claimed the Spain international is ready for a new experience and is ‘looking forward’ to making a switch to Galatasaray.
With a deal expiring in 2024, it’s said Liverpool ‘will allow’ the Spain international to leave, as long as they receive a ‘good transfer fee’ of around €20m. To get rid of the burden of his high salary, Jürgen Klopp’s side could reduce it to €15m.
According to the report, Galatasaray want to convince Liverpool to accept their €10m bid to be paid in four instalments. They are willing to offer €2m in bonuses if he makes 40 appearances and an additional €2m if Galatasaray progress to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Akşam don’t mention whether Liverpool are ready to accept these terms to sell Thiago.
