Liverpool youngster Paulo Alves, also known as Paulinho, is still adapting to his new life in England.
The midfielder joined the Anfield side in January from his childhood club Sanjoanense. He’s currently making his transition to the Liverpool U-23 squad, where he hopes to get a few chances in Premier League Two this season.
In an interview with Lusa (via Sapo Desporto) today, the player talked a lot about his adaptation to England. Not only regarding football, but his personal life has changed a lot as well.
“It’s much colder here, food isn’t impressive either,” Paulinho told Lusa.
On the difference between Portuguese and English football, the youngster said: “You have to think fast, but I evolved a lot from the senior experience I had at Saojoanense and I think that helped me a lot to adapt to football here”.
The player revealed that Portuguese Toni Gomes and Spanish Madger Antonio are the teammates who have been helping most: “We spend a lot of time together in our free time and it helps in adapting.”
He also commented on the experience he had to play a friendly for the Liverpool first team against Bristol City: “It was a very good experience. I always want more, I want to go there [the first team] more often and want more opportunities”
Paulinho is still unsure if he’ll be loaned out or stay in the U-23s, but sees the first team squad as his prime objective in England.
