Last week, reports coming out of Denmark stated Manchester United are one of the clubs monitoring Kamaldeen Sulemana.
FC Nordsjælland manager Flemming Pedersen confirmed the aforementioned claims, after club chairman Jan Laursen hinted the Red Devils are keen on signing the forward.
Since then, it appears Liverpool have joined the Old Trafford club and Ajax in chasing the 19-year-old.
The Ghana international started in his side’s 2-1 victory over Randers on Wednesday and he assisted Tochi Chukwuani’s opener of the game.
After the match, Pedersen told Denmark’s TV3 the Reds are now in ‘contention’ to sign the talented star.
“Manchester United, Liverpool and others who are on the pitch, well, I also know Kamal so well that when he is pressured, he automatically takes the next step as well,” Pedersen said.
“And with the personality and mentality he has, I will never say that it will be too big a leap, because he is extraordinary.”
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars was accompanied by the club’s chief scout to their trip to Denmark, to watch Sulemana in action.
The player is aware of the Eredivisie side’s interest and Pedersen believes a move to Amsterdam, just like his former teammate Mohammed Kudus, would be the best step for his career rather than one to Liverpool or Manchester United.
“Ajax is perhaps the safe choice where he will definitely get plenty of playing time,” the Nordsjælland coach said.
“You could well imagine that [it was Kamaldeen’s last match]. I cannot stand here to say that I expect him to be here next season because there is so much hype about him.
“That’s completely understandable, and I myself helped hype him last spring, when he made his debut. But we have to see what happens.”
Sulemana has 10 goals and eight assists in 29 matches in all competitions this season.
