Earlier today, we covered claims from the Italian media saying Liverpool are insisting on the signing of Nicolo Barella from Inter Milan.
Even though it’s already been said it’d take over €80m to sign him from the Nerazzurri, the Reds reportedly do not give up on chasing him.
It turns out that as the Italian media talk about another central midfielder, they also bring Liverpool into the story. According to Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp’s side are following Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Manu Koné.
Their piece starts with Juventus’ interest in the player. The Old Lady are likely to lose Paul Pogba for a certain amount of time due to doping accusations, and now see the Bundesliga player as a potential replacement.
The outlet then talks about Liverpool’s chase, claiming the Reds have been following him ‘for some time’. What sounds interesting is that he wouldn’t be so expensive, as €24-25m could be enough to ‘convince’ Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Now since Juventus ‘already inquired’ about his signing, perhaps that’s a sign that the Reds should hurry and avoid competing with the Serie A side with a transfer in the January window potentially on the horizon.
