Liverpool will need a ‘completely immoral offer’ if they wish to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie this summer.
That’s according to BILD, who say the German club have no intention of selling the defender unless Liverpool come up with a huge bid for him.
Reports in England have linked the Reds with a move for Hincapie before the end of the transfer window, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to add another defender to his squad.
He currently has Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip as his options but none of those are natural left footers and the latter pair have struggled with injuries over the last few years.
A defensive addition, particularly a natural left footed player, would make sense then and Hincapie is reportedly the one they are looking at.
BILD cover that and report that Bayer Leverkusen are not expecting any ‘mega offers’ to arrive for the player or teammates Jonathan Tah or Odilon Kossounou.
The club are prepared if any interested parties come calling before the end of the window but don’t want to sell any of them if they have the choice.
In terms of Hincapie, they have no need to sell as extended his contract until 2027 in February and the expectation is he will remain with the club until 2024 at least.
Even if an offer is made, Leverkusen would only be willing to discuss the player if they receive a ‘completely immoral offer’ for him. At the moment, that would be around €70m.
Whether Liverpool would be willing to pay such a figure isn’t clear at this stage. They’ve already spent €132m on incomings this summer and only brought in €60m so it seems unlikely, unless Klopp can convince those above him that Hincapie is a necessity worth the outlay.
