Even though Liverpool were never considered to be in the lead of the race for Bruno Fernandes, their chance to sign the Sporting player is highlighted by newspaper Correio da Manhã today.

The outlet claims the Reds have been waiting for an opportunity so they can move for the player, despite Tottenham’s bigger insistence on getting him.

Correio da Manhã highlights that not long ago, Fernandes has praised Jurgen Klopp’s style at Liverpool, saying it was one of the Premier League clubs he likes to watch.

That’s why the outlet says a move from the Reds could ‘change it all’ in the race, giving them a chance to land the much disputed midfielder.

The word in Portugal is that Sporting are only letting Fernandes go for a minimum amount of €70m, and won’t negotiate until clubs get to that number.

More good news for Liverpool is that Manchester City are not considered to be in the race. Pep Guardiola’s side had a €55m bid rejected and are now ruled out by the local media.
