A regular under Jürgen Klopp, Georginio Wijnaldum is enjoying himself at Liverpool, the club he joined from Newcastle last summer for close to £25m.

Unable to help Rafa Benitez’s side from getting relegated back down to the Championship, the Dutch attacking midfielder was picked up by the Reds, and ended up having a decent season, finding more form towards the back end of the campaign.

Missing just one game so far this year, the 26-year-old was interviewed by AreaNapoli, and discussed various topics, including what it’s like to play under Klopp.

He said: “There aren’t many like him. He’s a great manager. He has a rare ability: he knows how to improve his players and make them play at their full potential. He’s a passionate manager and one with whom I deeply agree”.

Dodging a question about Coutinho and Barcelona with ease by saying ‘a player like him can play anywhere’, the midfielder moved on to talking about what hearing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” does to him.

He explained: “It means a lot for the players, it’s something that’s overwhelming. Even today, every time they sing the chorus, I get goosebumps. Liverpool have some phenomenal fans”.

Continuing to dodge transfer questions about his teammates (“Emre Can’s best place is at Liverpool with me”), Wijnaldum also isn’t surprised about how easily Mohamed Salah has slotted back into the Premier League.

It’s fair to say the Dutchman is happy at Liverpool, and isn’t ready to go anywhere else any time soon.
