Liverpool are ‘on the list’ of clubs interesting in a deal for Borussia Dortmund youngster Youssoufa Moukoko but face competition from Manchester United and Newcastle.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany journalist March Behrenbeck, who says the trio are ‘not that far yet’ in terms of moving for the player.
Moukoko is considered one of the hottest youngsters in Europe after impressing for Dortmund after scoring 11 goals and registering eight assists in 59 games for the German sides.
That goes alongside his record in their youth set up, where he scored 47 goals in 25 games for the U19s, and 90 goals in 56 games for the U17s.
His contract with Dortmund is set to expire in the summer and that has led to a growing race for his signature as he is free to negotiate a deal for the summer from January 1st.
A whole host of clubs around Europe are thought to be keen to get him and Behrenbeck states that Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are among them.
“It is clear that a lot of top clubs are enquiring about Moukoko and are keen on him,” he told Sky Sports Germany.
“He is available on a free transfer in the summer and is a bargain. We hear that Chelsea are the closest. There have already been negotiations and talks.
“Other clubs on the list are Manchester United, Liverpool, Barcelona and Newcastle. But the hottest is Chelsea, the others are not that far yet.”
