Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho is yet to impress at RB Leipzig since arriving on loan from Anfield in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Kicker, who cover the player today after another disappointing performance from the player in the win over Wiesbaden.
Carvalho joined Leipzig on a season-long loan deal after a frustrating year at Liverpool in which he barely featured under Jurgen Klopp.
His prospects of further playing time this season had been hampered by the arrival of Dominik Szoboszlai from Leipzig this summer, as well as further midfield additions such as Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch.
Thus, the decision was taken to loan him out to Germany in the hope he could play regularly and continue his development in the Bundesliga, a place where young stars have often developed into first-team players.
Unfortunately for Carvalho and Liverpool, though, he’s barely featured so far this season, with a recent report making it clear that he was using the international break to try and get back on track and earn his place.
That opportunity was handed to him this week in the clash with Wiesbaden, but it seems things did not go to plan.
Kicker report that the Liverpool loanee ‘still visibly lacked rhythm’ in the game as well as there being a lack of ‘commitment and assertiveness’ from him in the attacking midfield role.
The 21-year-old doesn’t appear to be up to the mark as yet, and it’s stated he’s ‘nowhere near as advanced’ as fellow loanee Xavi Simons, who has been impressing early on and immediately established himself as a fixture in the team.
That’s yet to happen for Carvalho, who it seems needs to work extra hard to prove his worth at his current loan club.
