Liverpool and Manchester United are in a ‘dispute’ to sign Ajax winger Antony, according to claims from the Brazilian media today.
UOL reports the clubs are two of the Premier League sides who have made approaches for the signing ‘in recent weeks’.
Their contacts are still to be made formal, as the same report says there are no official bids on the table yet.
Now what Liverpool and Manchester United will probably like to hear is that despite a recent approach from Barcelona, the player would actually prefer a Premier League move.
UOL points out that the Red Devils have ‘an advantage’ which is the presence of manager Erik ten Hag, who worked with Antony at Ajax in the past couple of seasons.
This isn’t the first time UOL reports Liverpool interest in the winger, as they had already done so in March.
The story claims Newcastle United made an approach as well, but are set to be underdogs against the two Premier League giants. Featuring for Ajax this season, Anthony has scored 12 goals and contributed 10 assists.
