Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders will sit down with his agent in the international break to discuss his future as he plans to leave alongside Jurgen Klopp.
That’s according to NOS, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who say Lijnders is very much on the list at Ajax as they seek a new manager in the summer.
NOS explains that there are currently three names being discussed within Ajax as the potential successors to John van ‘t Schip.
Lijnders is one of them, with him set to leave Liverpool in the summer at the same time that Jurgen Klopp steps down.
New Ajax director of football Alex Kroes has the Liverpool assistant manager on his list of potential appointments and wants to make a decision quickly on the matter.
Lijnders is a name which has been mentioned several times, although it is unclear what role those in charge in Amsterdam would have in mind for him, be that first-team manager or assistant to the new manager.
Either way, Lijnders is yet to make a decision about his future and will instead sit down with his agent in the international break to look at his options post Liverpool.
The belief has long been that he wants to move into management once again but that’s not yet clear, and Ajax don’t seem to have decided whether he would be an ideal fit as manager either.
He’s on the list, though, with Kroes getting to work in Amsterdam this week and determined to sort out the managerial situation quickly.
