Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot remains on RB Leipzig’s ‘shadow list’ this summer but a transfer is not particularly likely this summer.

That’s according to journalist Philipp Hinze, who report that the total package to get the midfielder from Liverpool is considered too high. There is also a strong market for him abroad, potentially in England.

While a deal cannot be completely ruled out for the German side, and Leipzig maintain good relations with Elliot’s agency, ROOF, there is nothing currently being worked on. Contacts have warmed up in recent weeks but are not hot or anywhere near it.

Leipzig would need to generate transfer revenue to fund a move. The current squad is currently overstaffed, especially in forward positions. They would also prefer other profiles if they were to strengthen their forward options.

Thus, any potential move for Elliot is ‘one to watch’ rather than anything else. At this point Leipzig are seen as having an outside chance of signing the Liverpool man should he depart Anfield this summer.

That tallies with reports coming from England, where the midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to West Ham. It seems in Germany, they see that move as more likely than to Leipzig.
