Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin has ended up on Liverpool’s radar.

The Ukraine international’s deal lasts until 2025 and he has the renewal offer from the La Liga winners.

That’s according to Friday’s edition of Sport, who say the stopper is thinking whether to sign a new deal with Los Blancos.

Thibaut Courtois suffered a serious injury in August 2023, forcing him to miss most of last season. Lunin was able to enjoy minutes at Real Madrid as he played 31 games, keeping 12 clean sheets and conceding 32 goals in the process.

The Belgian regained full fitness towards the end of last season. The report says he’ll be the first-choice stopper for Carlo Ancelotti, with the 25-year-old as his backup.

Alisson Becker has been Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper since he arrived at Anfield in 2018. He’s attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, which has seen the Reds look for options in the market.

Lunin has been identified as a target. Sport claim Liverpool have made contact, likely with his agent Jorge Mendes, to sign him if the Brazilian is sold in this window.

The report adds he’s ‘about to leave’ Real Madrid if there’s an offer from a Champions League team to be their new No.1. Liverpool could be an option for him if Alisson were to leave the Reds.

Marca interviewed Lunin and asked him whether he’ll be at Real Madrid next season.

“Let’s see, let’s see… There’s not much left to know. Obviously [I want to continue], but… Well, the only thing I can say is that everything went well with Madrid. And now it’s in the hands of Madrid. That’s what I can say about my future,” he said.

When asked to elaborate, Lunin explained: “Well, I said what I wanted to say. Soon… Well, I don’t know what’s going to happen either.”

“Instead of starting when it’s my turn because of the holidays [represented Ukraine at Euros], I start on Monday, July 15th. I want to be with the team from day one because that’s what I want.

“If I didn’t want to be here, I would have taken all my vacations, but I want to come back now and continue, because I am in the best team in the world.”
