It seems Liverpool remain strong in the pursuit of RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer.
The Reds’ effort to sign the player in the summer had not only been reported by the German media, but also confirmed by the 25-year-old himself, who even admitted he’s a fan of the Anfield side.
It turns out Laimer’s contract with RB Leipzig expires at the end of the season, and as that possibility is presented as a good chance for Liverpool, the Reds seem to insist on bringing him to Merseyside.
An update from Bild journalist Christian Falk claims that Jurgen Klopp’s side have made contact with the midfielder’s staff, who are also the agents of Naby Keita.
The story, however, points out that Liverpool aren’t alone in the competition. Firstly, because Chelsea are also trying to take him to England, and the two Premier League rivals may struggle with competition from Bayern Munich, who are said to be ‘leading the race’.
With Laimer being able to walk from Leipzig for free, it’s just a matter of who’ll make the most attractive option to the player before the end of the season, or try to anticipate a deal with the Bundesliga side in January.
