Sunday’s edition of O Jogo calls Joao Neves ‘a laboratory weapon’, and thankfully it’s not an insult.
The Benfica midfielder is widely seen as the next big Portuguese thing, and his club are protected by a €120m release clause. There’s even been claims the Lisbon side want to increase that amount to €150m.
Manchester United have been linked for months, and the O Jogo story states Liverpool have ‘joined the race’ alongside the Red Devils and Chelsea, with the latter also said to have been keen for a while.
Bayern Munich and PSG are also credited with interest.
Liverpool will likely have the Champions League advantage over their Premier League rivals, with Manchester United’s terrible performance at Brentford on Saturday likely seeing their chances go. Chelsea are even further back in the CL race.
Theres no claims of offers or talks with any of Liverpool, Chelsea or Manchester United, with O Jogo concentrating on celebrating the 19-year-old and his quest to become a complete player.
So nothing huge at this stage, but certainly a situation to watch ahead of the summer.
