Liverpool could be interested in Hannover 96 goalkeeper Rob-Robert Zieler this summer as Jurgen Klopp looks for a ‘reliable number two’ for Alisson.
That’s according to BILD, who say the 34-year-old is ‘high up’ on the list of ‘candidates’ for the position, thanks to his close association to Jörg Schmadtke.
The newspaper explains that the former 96 sports director is in negotiations with Liverpool over a move to Anfield and becoming an “external consultant in transfer matters”.
There have been rumours about a potential move for Zieler for weeks because Klopp is looking for a ‘strong and reliable’ number two to play behind Alisson for next season.
The Hannover captain is believed to be on the list of candidates to fill that position, and ‘already high up’ it to boot.
A move to Liverpool would be ‘financially attractive’ for him, so he’d be keen on the move, while Hannover are unlikely to oppose a deal as it’s rare to receive a seven figure offer for a 34-year-old with just a year left on his current contract.
Schmadtke could be key to getting things over the line, having signed Zieler from Hannover 13-years-ago, a relationship that could be reforged at Anfield if he moves there as expected.
