Earlier on Monday, we covered claims from German newspaper Bild about Liverpool interest in Schalke’s Ozan Kabak.

It was stated he’s being considered as a replacement for Dejan Lovren, who is set to move to Russia with Zenit Saint Petersburg this summer.

Schalke would rather keep the central defender, but their financial situation means that any big offers must be considered. Kabak has a €50m clause in his contract, which is only applicable from next year.

Bild suggested a figure around €30m may be enough.

Kicker now back up the claims of Liverpool interest, they state they’ve researched it and their own sources have confirmed the Reds are keen.

They also go with the €30m figure, and pull up a social media post from the past. Not long after Kabak joined Schalke, he was pictured holding up a signed Liverpool shirt which Virgil van Dijk had sent to him, calling the Dutchman ‘one of the best central defenders in the world’.

Kicker suggest Kabak may soon get the chance to play alongside him.
