Following their 7-0 win over Manchester United, Liverpool are hoping to continue that good form going forward, as this would help them overtake the clubs in front of them in hope of getting Champions League football, which many believe is the minimum for them to stand a chance of signing Jude Bellingham.

The Borussia Dortmund star has long been a target for Liverpool, and while they were seen as the favourites to get him at the end of the season when the campaign starter, their poor form placed some doubts on that.

Either way, the Reds are planning in case they don’t get the England international, according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo on their list.

He took to Twitter to deliver the news, making it clear that despite the Ecuadorian’s recent contract extension with the Seagulls, a transfer in the summer ‘is likely’.

There are a lot of suitors for the Brighton star, including Liverpool, and a move to a bigger side, perhaps one playing the Champions League seems to be expected by all parties.

The new deal could have just been a way for Brighton to have a bit more bargaining power in the next transfer window, but the Reds will only join if they can’t get Bellingham.

While their interest in the Seagulls man is ‘confirmed’, they have a ‘clear’ ranking in terms of preference when it comes to a new midfielder.

That’s Bellingham at number one, with some ‘top alternatives like Caicedo’ if they can’t get a deal with Dortmund done.a
